Hashi by Style of Japan alludes to the symbolism of chopsticks in Japan. “Hashi” in Japanese can mean “chopsticks” but also “bridge” — a symbolic connection between earth and the spiritual realm. These are ryokuchi-style chopsticks, their pointed tips inviting the power and fortuitousness of gods in one end to flow to the diner at the other. Used for entertaining and serving kaiseki course meals and sushi, they allow you to use one side for main dishes and the other for taking sides from shared plates.

Style of Japan is based in Obama, Fukui Prefecture, where 80% of Japan's lacquered chopsticks are crafted. Their chopsticks combine contemporary aesthetics with traditional tableware, while holding the deepest respect for Fukui’s 400-year history of artisanship. Designs span from the minimalist to vibrant and playful, and environmentally friendly practices are at the forefront of Style of Japan, which include using woods sustainably sourced from local forest thinning projects.
