NATURAL MATERIALS FOR EARTH DAY

To commemorate Earth Day, we're highlighting items made from natural materials (woods, cottons, local clays), recycled or recyclable textiles and vintage recycled finds.

Japanese design is rooted in a deep respect for the environment. It's such a part of the process, it's often second nature. From traditional arts and crafts to the use of innovative technology, we've seen makers source sustainably grown woods, utlize timber from thinning projects, and focus on local clays, natural fibres and recycled materials.

Most importantly, they believe that homeware should be designed for longevity and whenever possible, for life. It's not about trends or fads. It's about respecting and protecting nature, craft and the world we live in.
