SABURO SHARI GLASS BOWL L

Regular price £160.00

Tax included. Shipping calculated at checkout.

All of Saburo’s glassware is enchantingly inspired by water. Shari Shari is named after the sound of ice being shaved into kakigori, Japan’s light and fluffy summer dessert. Like conical bowls of tinted ice, these appear frosted, but look closer and you’ll see miniscule bubbles frozen in effervescence. Soft in colour and translucent, these handmade works are all subtly different. Ideal as a fruit bowl — beautiful as an objet d’art.

Based in Yatsuomachi in Toyama, a prefecture famous for its glass production, Saburo focuses on tableware centerpieces inspired by Lake Biwa, a place close to its artisans Mitsuhiko and Yuki Nakata's hearts, and imbued with Japanese culture. Colors are developed after much experimentation, and all the works are kiln formed, involving a meticulous process of temperature controlled firing, sanding, moulding and re-firing.
