Noren Noren is an ongoing textile series designed and handcrafted by artist, creative director and designer Amy Croft. Inspired by the Korean custom of Bojagi patchworking, Amy re-imagines traditional Japanese noren curtains into beautiful, functional artworks.
Each piece is made of linen and designed in colour palettes drawn from Japanese traditions. They form soft boundaries — shifting screens to hang in a doorway, window or as wall art. Amy’s use of Bojagi hidden seams ensures a clean finish on both sides, making each one a reversible textile work.
These are original pieces, each is one of a kind, with every colour and shape meticulously chosen and sewn together by Amy herself.

Based in Margate, Amy has an affinity for Asia, particularly Japan and Japanese design. Her influences include the colour research of Sanzo Wada, founder of the Japan Standard Color Association in 1927 (present-day Japan Color Research Institute), and traditional textile techniques. All her pieces are hand-crafted by Amy herself in Margate, where she also runs the unique, design bed and breakfast Modja Modja House.
