Why not make maths fun? A soroban abacus is a great way to visualise and solve sums while exercising the analytical muscles of the mind. It can also help kids overcome a fear or maths, boost their confidence and improve cognitive skills.

Daiichi is one of the few traditional abacus artisan groups left in Japan and has been making soroban, a design unique to Japan, since 1910. Each one takes the well-honed skills and precision techniques of several woodworking and bamboo craftspeople, each specializing and perfecting a different component.

Designed by Shinya Kobayashi, an up-and-coming creator already renowned for his commitment to helping revitalize Japanese crafts, these Daiichi soroban are hand crafted in bright pastels and two-tone woods. Each one also comes with English instructions.
