Once used to plate sushi in an established ryokan Japanese inn, these square raised dishes were kept by the inn-owner's family long after it closed. Mid-Showa Era pieces, each one is subtly asymmetrical, its platform base raising sushi for display. Its indigo blue border line defines inner edges aside from one corner appearing as if folded over to reveal a dainty blue underglaze pattern of a vine leaf.
