BLUE STRIPED WORKMAN LIDDED POT (SHOWA)
Regular price £28.00
These Arita porcelain lidded pots were once used by a ryokan (traditional inn) for chawan mushi (savory egg pudding) dishes. Their conical shape, however, makes them great as modern-day cups or minimalist decorative pieces. Their stripes are hand-painted, each detailed with outlines in a darker blue.
One of our favourite types of vintage porcelain has to be "workman" pieces like these. Ceramics designed to serve break snacks to workers — builders, repair people, etc. Always blue and white porcelain, with simple graphic patterns — dots and stripes — they are timeless beauties
