A stunning uwade (top handled) kyusu Japanese teapot, this piece is a modern take on iinka (stamped) pottery that showcases how a single-colour glaze can highlight pattern and create texture.
We love that this is an unusually large and flat uwade that makes it ideal for all kinds of tea — Japanese, herbal or even English Breakfast. Its pattern of flowers is indented to allow the blue glaze to pool into a deeper hue, which is stippled elsewhere to create even more texture. A slightly more modern piece of our vintage collection the handle of this teapot is wood wrapped in a more resistant vinyl twine.
We also have matching teacups if you're looking to make a set.
