WASHI DESIGN JAPANESE TEAPOT (MID-CENTURY) SOLD OUT

Crisp white, and featuring a gently textured lilac pattern, this mid-century Japanese teapot brings together two Japanese crafts — porcelain ware and washi shibori tie-dyed paper.

Made in Arita Prefecture by the Hyakusen Kiln, the technique involved imprinting the texture of shibori washi paper onto porcelain. As far as we know, Hyakusen developed this technique and was the only kiln to make it, and yet it, sadly, is no longer in production.

Matte and unusually delicate in design, we think it's timeless — a perfect match for contemporary tableware. See the matching vintage washi shibori Japanese lidded teacups for a full tea set.
