Some of the best things come in small sizes — a Mino-yaki saucer is more versatile than you may think. Serve side dishes, display jewelry or use one as an elegant holder for our Trunk Design Ku Washi Incense.
There's a warmth to the speckled detail of these mini porcelain plates that make them a little extra special. Hand glazed, each one is different. Take the lively pink to brighten a room, or the soft off-white for a touch of minimalism.
Believed to the oldest form of artistic pottery produced in Japan, Mino-yaki (Mino ware) dates as far back as the Nara Period 710-794. Produced in the old Mino Province, in present-day Gifu Prefecture, it became popular for traditional tea ceremony vessels. Today, the styles of Mino-yaki are as varied as they are beautiful — from the warm rustic glazes of hand thrown traditional Kiso Seto, Black Seto, Shino and Oribe ware to the soft pastels of modern tableware.
