One of three Mino-Yaki bud vase designs, the minimalism of the Circle Mini Vase brings the daintiest of blooms to the fore. Simple but so refined, each is glazed a cool eggshell blue, warmed by the tiniest of flecks. A touch of geometry adds elegance, its soft vertical lines displacing the glaze ever-so-slightly to reveal a hint of the Mino-ware porcelain below.
These vase designs are made in Tajima, Gifu Prefecture, the heart of Japan's decorative tile industry, and were winners of the 2011 Tajimi City Mayor's award at the Gifu Prefecture Mino-Yaki New Works exhibition. We love these new contemporary colours — muted grey, minimalist white and gold-bronze — that will match any decor.

Mino-yaki dates as far back as the Nara Period 710-794. Produced in the old Mino Province, in present-day Gifu Prefecture, it became popular for traditional tea ceremony vessels. Today, the styles of Mino-yaki are as varied as they are beautiful — from the warm rustic glazes of hand-thrown traditional Kiso Seto, Black Seto, Shino and Oribe ware to the soft pastels of modern tableware.
