Originally made for chawan-mushi, a savory egg pudding, these 1940s-50s Arita porcelain Dragonfly & Chrysanthemum lidded pots are in pristine condition. The raised design of dragonflies, butterflies and chrysanthemum motifs reveal the white porcelain below a flawlessly smooth brown glaze.
The smooth shape, uniform color and bold but simple motifs make these unusual for their time — the reason we like them so much. They may be for egg pudding, but there's nothing to stop you using them to keep tea warm, or just hide away a few favorite trinkets.
