Made in Iga, Mie Prefecture, an area of Japan renowned for its sturdy donabe cooking pots and wabi-sabi dining ware, this ceramic Igamono-ware cup has the natural rich hue and matt texture of earthenware but a smooth glazed lip for easy drinking. What we particularly love about it, is the hand-painted motif — a beautiful, wispy ear of wheat.
Ceramic cups can help keep a drink chilled just as well as it can keep one warm. It’s believed that they can also help an effervescent drink retain its bubbles. This tall, wide-rimmed mug may be designed for beer, but truthfully, it's great for any beverage — hot or cold.
