Who would have thought latticed paper could enhance homeware so elegantly?

Torafu Architects' AirVase design for Fukunaga's Kami no Kousakujo collection is genius. A circle of paper, laser-cut with a fine lattice pattern, it transforms into an ethereal 3D objet d'art when pulled out by the edges. Delicate in appearance, but strong enough to be flexible, it can be shaped various ways around a small object, fashioned into a decorative basket, and even be used as unusual gift wrap.

We adore this Hologram Neon version in pink and yellow. With one side coloured and the other in shiny, they can be used either way round and always magically glint in the sunlight.

In 2006, Fukunaga Print, a paper company already renowned for innovative packaging solutions, began the Kami no Kousakujo (Paper Workshop) project to research and develop new and novel uses of paper. Since then, it has collaborated with numerous contemporary designers to produce a lineup of inventive and unusual stationery, games, objet and homewares, all constructed from the company’s range of quality paper and card.
