A playfully different kind of bud vase, the Still Green Bottle is like a contemporary artwork. Beautifully compact by design, its seemingly two-dimensional line-art form is slim enough to fit on any bookshelf or mantelpiece. A gently curved base keeps it sturdy, while its hollow construction turns it into a vessel.
We learned that it takes remarkable skill to produce the Still Green series of vases. Pour the porcelain too thin and it cracks in the kiln; too thick, and the hollow passages become blocked. The perfect balance is something that only the meticulous craftsmanship of Seto porcelain artisans can achieve with such perfection.

Ceramic Japan brings together contemporary designers with traditional ceramists in Seto, Aichi Prefecture, a region with a history of porcelain dating back to the 8th century. Porcelain clay is still sourced from the prefecture’s mountainous landscape and was originally fired using timber from local woodland. Artisans today use age-old techniques, now refined to perfection by modern equipment, making Ceramic Japan’s minimalist products a combination of innovative design and traditional craftsmanship.
