MINO-YAKI DESSERT SPOON

Regular price £2.00

Tax included. Shipping calculated at checkout.

A ceramic spoon makes having coffee or dessert all the more special. It’s a small thing, we know, but that makes it the best kind of detail. Pastel glazes make these spoons a playful addition to a saucer or table setting, but they can also enhance the dining experience.

The size of teaspoons, their smooth form give a gentle, soft mouthfeel, while porcelain doesn’t get unpleasantly cold when eating a chilled dish or ice cream.

Believed to the oldest form of artistic pottery produced in Japan, Mino-yaki (Mino ware) dates as far back as the Nara Period 710-794. Produced in the old Mino Province, in present-day Gifu Prefecture, it became popular for traditional tea ceremony vessels. Today, the styles of Mino-yaki are as varied as they are beautiful — from the warm rustic glazes of hand thrown traditional Kiso Seto, Black Seto, Shino and Oribe ware to the soft pastels of modern tableware.
