Simple but elegant, this Noritake Leaf Tea Set was bought as a spare for entertaining guests long ago, but never used. The previous owner says he remembers liking the way its long leaf pattern extends across the body of the teapot and onto the lid and how the design is more complex than first meets the eye.
Each leaf is hand-painted in gradations of blue and green underglaze and a hint of yellow to create a wispy feathery effect. Beneath the motif is a faint grey shadow of other leaves. The tea set includes five lidded cups, each with a rim of traditional blue glaze that Japanese porcelain is known for.
